Windows (): A New Way to Run Multiple Apps on Windows 11
Windows 11 is the latest version of Microsoft's operating system, designed to make your PC more productive, secure, and personal. One of the new features in Windows 11 is Windows (), a tool that lets you run multiple apps in a single window using tabs.
Windows () is similar to the Sets feature that was tested in previous versions of Windows 10, but it has been improved and integrated with the new user interface of Windows 11. With Windows (), you can easily switch between different apps without opening multiple windows on your desktop. You can also group related apps together and save them as a project, so you can resume your work later with one click.
To use Windows (), you need to enable it in the Settings app under System > Multitasking > Windows (). Then, you can open any app and click on the plus icon next to the title bar to add a new tab. You can choose from a list of recent and recommended apps, or search for any app installed on your PC. You can also drag and drop tabs to rearrange them, or right-click on a tab to close it, pin it, or move it to a new window.
Windows () is compatible with most apps that run on Windows 11, including Microsoft Edge, Office, Mail, Photos, and more. However, some apps may not support tabs or may have limited functionality. You can check the compatibility of an app by looking at its icon in the tab bar. If the icon is grayed out, it means that the app does not support tabs. If the icon has a yellow exclamation mark, it means that the app has some issues with tabs.
Windows () is a handy feature that can help you multitask more efficiently and organize your work better on Windows 11. You can try it out now by updating your PC to Windows 11 or joining the Windows Insider Program.
If you want to join the Windows Insider Program and get early access to Windows 11 and Windows (), you need to have a compatible PC and a Microsoft account. You can check the minimum system requirements for Windows 11 here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11-specifications. You can also use the PC Health Check app to see if your PC is eligible for the upgrade.
Once you have a compatible PC and a Microsoft account, you can follow these steps to join the Windows Insider Program:
Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program and click on Get started.
Sign in with your Microsoft account and choose your Insider settings. You can select from three channels: Dev Channel, Beta Channel, or Release Preview Channel. The Dev Channel is the most experimental and unstable, but it offers the latest features and updates. The Beta Channel is more stable and reliable, but it may not have all the features of the Dev Channel. The Release Preview Channel is the most stable and secure, but it only offers updates that are ready for public release.
Review the terms and conditions and click on Confirm.
Restart your PC to apply the changes.
Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. You should see an update for Windows 11. Download and install it.
Congratulations, you are now a Windows Insider and you can enjoy Windows 11 and Windows () on your PC. You can also provide feedback to Microsoft and help shape the future of Windows. aa16f39245
